Wire wrapping machines for insulating cables with polyimide tapes

These WTM cable taping machines are specially designed for the application of polyimide composite tapes on flat and round wires and the subsequent sintering process.

It is a complex wire taping line, typically with horizontal design, whose layout usually includes:

- cable pay-off and take-up unit, with standard - wireguide or traversing movement to keep the wire in straight direction without deviation from its axis;
- wire alignment unit with steel rollers and cleaning device with brushes, to ensure the best cable preparation;
- one or more taping units with taping heads suitable for large cross-wound spools or heavy pads, where the WTM dynamic dancer keeps the tape tension constant and stable, guaranteeing a trouble-free process, much appreciated in the case of flat wires with a high width/thickness ratio;
- pulling units (capstan, one or two caterpillars or combined caterpillar/capstan system) for precise control of line speed and wire tension;
- fast preheating process with high frequency induction heaters, followed by infrared or salt bath sintering ovens;
- cooling system with recirculating cold water and air wipers to dry the wire;
- compacting units that allow the complete adhesion of the polyimide layers to the conductor;
in-line quality control with laser gauges, spark tester and WTM Visio system with camera, providing product certification and reporting capabilities;
- paper feeder installed on the take-up int, suitable for automatically depositing a complete turn of paper layer on the spool during wire winding.

The technical characteristics can be adapted to the specific production requirements of the customer.
